Lauren Ashley Dietz and Miranda Jane Phelps were best friends.
They lived for one another. Their passions included soccer, friends, & family. They loved each other so much, anyone who knew them, knew they did. But on May 29th, 2007, they died together, in a single car crash on Buell Road, a curvy, two-lane road that snakes through woods. Lauren, Miranda, and Miranda's boyfriend, Derek, were in the back-seat, seat belt-less. Chad Metzcar, Lauren's boyfriend, was driving, doing 72 mph in a 35 mph zone. He lost control of the Chevrolet Cavalier and it slammed into the trees, killing Lauren and Miranda almost instantly.
Though the tragedy was over a year ago, the scars are still on Lauren's loved one's hearts', as well as on the road. A memorial stands on Buell Road, reminding all how precious life is, and a lasting tribute to the two amazing girls. Lauren and Miranda will live on in our hearts. Their laughs', their smiles, their quirky ways. But mostly, there love for each other.

It's a mystery
why some are taken before their time. Someone recently told me that whilst we may never know the reason, or indeed, maybe we will when we join those we have loved and lost; as soon as they arrive in heaven, the reason is explained to them. That gives me comfort, that they know why, even if we don't. Lauren knows, she understands and she is okay. She knows you all love her and she is watching over you all, without a doubt. Also, hold onto the fact that she and her best friend are still together...
She sounds like an amazing person...Keep smiling for her...as she did for you..and know she is smiling with you..
Lauren, let those who miss you know you are around...I think they need a reminder from time to time...

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,

I miss you!
I think everyone who knew you wishes we could've protected you. It hurts my heart when I think of how beautiful you are, all the potential you had, gone. I wish he had taken you and Miranda's life more seriously. Forgiveness is my nature, but it's still hard. You could easily still be with us if the right decisions were made. You mean so much to a lot of people, daughter, sister, friend. You were so many peoples' peace, and we will miss you until we see you again. You were my FIRST best friend, and that's something I'll never forget. And even if you weren't, forgetting you would be IMPOSSIBLE. Your voice still rings in my head today, and I think of you constantly so I don't forget any detail about you. It's so hard. I think of your parents, how they must grieve. You are amazing Lauren. If tears and prayers and wishes could bring you back, I gaurantee you'd be on the soccer field right now #8 ballin' it up! I pray for you, always. Love you Lo! :]
